The Red Pen Tool (RPT) is a Flash based application which enables the digital conversion, assessment and annotation of students’ coursework. Markers can append notes, highlights, comments and audio comments to specific positions on a piece of work. The application also loads one or more mark schemes which are associated with the work. This enables the moderator or marker to refer to the assessment objectives for the piece of work and, more importantly, to digitally append these marks to the work. RPT also encourages a collaborative process by enabling multiple markers to annotate the same piece of work.
